Sunil Gavaskar Questions BCCI On MS Dhoni And Shikhar Dhawan Not Playing Domestic Cricket

Legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has grilled Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on MS Dhoni and Shikhar Dhawan’s absence from domestic cricket. Since MS Dhoni was not picked in the T20 side against West Indies and Australia, his last series was ODI against West Indies.

Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan played the T20’s against West Indies and host Australia. He has been recently dropped from the Test Team following the poor performance in England. Dhoni and Dhawan’s absence from domestic cricket hasn’t gone well with Gavaskar.

“We shouldn’t ask Dhawan and Dhoni ‘Why you are not playing domestic cricket?’. We should, in fact, ask the BCCI and selectors why are they allowing players to skip domestic cricket when they are not on national duty,” said Gavaskar to India Today.

Here Is The Ideal Playing XI Of India For ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

MS Dhoni is consistently on the radar. He is endlessly receiving criticism for poor show in England, Asia Cup, and West Indies tour. Gavaskar feels that both the players should patriciate in the ongoing Ranji Trophy.

“He (Dhoni) didn’t play the T20Is against Australia, before that he didn’t play the West Indies Tests, and then he is not playing the Test series against Australia. “So, he last played in October (November 1) and will next play in January, which is a huge gap. But if he doesn’t do well on tours of Australia and New Zealand, then there will be more questions asked on his place in the World Cup.”
