Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be honored with Padma Bhushan today at a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi. The President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind will present the third highest civilian award to former Indian Cricket Team Captain. This is coming on his way after seven years after he fulfilled the dream of millions of people.

On this day in 2011, MS Dhoni won the ICC Cricket World Cup at Wankhede Stadium against Sri Lanka. The Captain played a crucial knock of 91* on the night of the final and finished off the style hitting a massive six. Under his captaincy, India has won 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy. MS Dhoni is the only Captain in World who has won all the three ICC tournaments.

Today he will be represented with Padma Bhushan. He has already been the recipient of many awards such as the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in 2007 and the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian award in 2009.

As of now, MS Dhoni is returning with two times winning team CSK in the 11th edition of IPL. CSK will open the game against MI at Wankhede Stadium on 7 April 2018.

Earlier last year, MS Dhoni resigned from the Captaincy of ODI and T20 and eventually Virat Kohli was named the captain. Presently he is a key guidance and training the young Indian Cricket Team and mostly he comes to bat on 5th or 6th when the team needs him the most. He has also confirmed to play the 2019 World Cup.
